NEW YORK: The teenage daughter of Michael Jackson Paris Jackson has claimed that her father was murdered. According to a foreign news website, she made the statement in an interview to an entertaiment magazine. Jackson said that her father gave clues on people targeting him and sometimes he would hint that they would kill him some day. The 18-year old said that some would think it was conspiracy theory but everyone in the family and all his real fans know it was a setup. It should be noted that Paris was 11 years old when Jackson died of an apparent heart attack in 2009 due to a lethal mixture of prescription drugs. Michael’s daughter has blamed Murray for her father’s demise but thinks something more heinous took place and wants justice.

BUSINESS Seven latest locomotives reach Pakistan from United States
ISLAMABAD: A consignment of seven new and modern locomotives reached Karachi from the United States in a bid to strengthen Pakistan Railways’ existing fleet, said sources in the ministry of railways on Monday.
“Pakistan will receive a total of 55 locomotives in different phases from the US. The remaining 48 are expected to be handed over to the Pakistan Railways by June 2017”.
The locomotive consignment includes 4,000 horsepower modern diesel locomotives of General Electric with 676 mm gauge and fully assembled, they said while commenting on its specifications.
“The 137 tonnes six-axle locomotives are designed for a maximum speed of 120 km per hour, and are expected to provide better fuel efficiency and longer maintenance intervals than Pakistan Railways’ current fleet”.
The locomotives, with 12-cylinder of 563 horsepower engine, would help cope with the harsh operating conditions in Pakistan, having additional cooling capacity and an air-conditioned cab suitable for bidirectional operation, official sources added.
This is a first ever consignment of evolution series locomotives not only to Pakistan but also to anywhere in the South Asian region.
According to the contract, they said, a US based Corys Electric Company would supply a full-scope simulator for driver training.
The official sources continued that the locomotives would be used for transporting coal from Karachi’s Port Qasim to Sahiwal Power Plant in Punjab and Jamshoro Power Plant in Sindh.
In 2015, they said that Pakistan Railways had signed an agreement with the US for provision of 55 General Electric diesel locomotives, out of which 40 would be used to haul imported coal and 15 in general freight services.
Bangladesh’s Arafat Sunny denied bail in girlfriend photos case
DHAKA: A court refused to grant bail to Bangladeshi cricketer Arafat Sunny on Tuesday after he was charged with posting “intimate” photos of his girlfriend on social media.
Metropolitan magistrate Zakir Hossain said another court which deals with internet-related crime would instead hear the bail application, meaning the 31-year-old spinner would remain behind bars on remand at a Dhaka prison.
“The court directed us to move to the cyber court to seek bail. It also asked the jail authorities to look after the health of Sunny as he was sick,” Sunny’s lawyer M. Muradduzaman told AFP.
Police arrested the left-arm bowler in a Dhaka suburb on Sunday after his longtime girlfriend Nasrin Sultana, 23, filed a complaint two weeks ago.
In her complaint Sultana said Sunny opened up a fake Facebook account in her name and posted “intimate photos” which she found “offensive and defamatory”.
She also claimed that they had been married since 2014 and filed a separate lawsuit against Sunny on Monday, accusing the player of seeking dowry worth millions from her family.
Sunny has denied all the accusations, including the claim that the couple had been secretly married for more than two years.
If found guilty Sunny could be jailed for up to 14 years and fined 10 million taka (around $125,000) under the country’s strict internet law, which local right groups say is being used to crack down on dissent.
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan has said that Sunny, who has played 16 one-day internationals and 10 Twenty20 internationals. could be banned from the sport if found guilty.

China foreign minister says wants to manage disputes with US
BEIJING: China wants dialogue with the new US administration to manage disputes and promote bilateral relations, but only on the basis of respecting each other’s core interests, like the “one China” principle, China’s foreign minister said.
US President Donald Trump, who was inaugurated on Friday, upset Beijing before taking office by casting doubt on the “one China” principle, under which Washington acknowledges Beijing’s position of sovereignty over self-ruled Taiwan.
China views Taiwan as a wayward province, to be brought under its control by force if necessary. However, proudly democratic Taiwan has shown no interest in being ruled by Beijing.
Speaking at a reception for the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the future direction of Sino-US ties had “attracted attention”.
“We are willing, on the basis of strictly abiding by the ‘one China’ principle and respect of each other’s core interests, to have dialogue with the new US government,” Wang said, in comments posted on the ministry’s website late Tuesday.
China is willing to “increase mutual trust, focus cooperation, manage and control disputes and promote the healthy development of China-US relations, to bring even greater benefits to both peoples”, he added.
India orders probe as Shahrukh fan dies in ‘Raees’ publicity stunt
India launched an investigation Tuesday after a publicity stunt for “Raees”, a new film starring Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan triggered a stampede at a train station, leaving one fan dead.
Thousands rushed to a station in India’s western Gujarat state to greet Khan, who was making brief stops on his journey to Delhi to promote his latest film “Raees”.
But the excitement turned to panic as fans were crushed trying to catch a glimpse of the Indian screen icon, who waved briefly from a passenger door.
Amid the stampede 45-year-old Farid Khan Pathan fell unconscious and collapsed, later dying in hospital.
India’s railway minister Suresh Prabhu said on Twitter he had ordered police to “investigate the matter and take stern action against any lapse”.
Television footage showed swarms of people running towards Khan’s carriage, elbowing one another to take pictures with smartphones as baton-wielding policemen tried to control the swelling numbers.
Two officers were also injured trying to bring order to the chaos, said Sharad Singhal, a senior railway police officer.
He said police were establishing whether the film organisers had sought permission before staging the stunt.
“We will investigate whether police failed to do its part or the organisers did not comply with rules and regulations,” he told reporters.
“We will take action against all those who were responsible, even if it was Shah Rukh Khan.”

Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump to talk today
NEW DELHI: US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have a telephonic conversation late on Tuesday, according to Indian media.
The two leaders will speak on phone at 1 pm ET (11.30 pm India time), the Zee Business reported. Modi will be the third world leader to talk to Trump after the latter having been sworn in as the US president.
The other two leaders who have spoken to Trump on phone are Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt.
Netanyhau termed his conversation with the new US president very warm, while Trump invited him on a visit to Washington in February.
The H1-B visa, bilateral trade and defence cooperation among other issues are likely to come under discussion during Trump-Modi conversation, it said.

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover’s wedding had been a much-talked about event, ever since the two had announced they planned on getting hitched at the end of April. I’m being offered new Bollywood films: Mawra Hocane
LAHORE: Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane recently revealed in an interview that she was receiving numerous offers from Bollywood directors to star in a movie.
Though Mawra Hocane’s Sanam Teri Kasam did not get to register a strong performance at the box office nor did it receive any sizeable amount of critical acclaims. However, Mawra Hocane’s performance and dance steps did receive praise from critics here and there, so much so that the actress claims to have been receiving offers from Bollywood directors to star in their upcoming projects.
In an interview, the actress said that after her debut Bollywood flick Sanam Teri Kasam, she had received offers from other Indian directors to star in upcoming Bollywood flicks. Mawra also said that for a Pakistani actor or actress to make it big in India was an honour since there were hundreds of actresses in the Indian film industry.
She also said that for an actor or actress to make it in the top ten list was a matter of pride for her. In response to a question, the Pakistani actress also said that there was no pressure on an artist while he/she was working in India. Mawra also said that her experience of working in Bollywood was a great one since she had received nothing but love and admiration.
Priyanka Chopra dines with Obama, finds him ‘charming’
WASHINGTON: Priyanka Chopra dined with US President Barack Hussain Obama at the White House Correspondent’s dinner and found him to be ‘charming’.
Priyanka Chopra has another feather in her cap. The Bollywood actress, who was blessed with international recognition after her role as Alex Parrish in Quantico, dined with United States President Barack Obama and his wife Michele Obama at the White House Correspondent’s dinner this Monday.
33-year old Chopra looked bewitching in a deep-cut, black and sheer-stripe gown while Obama pulled off a dapper look in his black suit and crisp white shirt, over which he also wore a bow. Chopra chatted with the US President and his wife over dinner during which they also discussed their program Let Girls Learn.Here is the picture which Priyanka posted on Instagram.
The dinner event, which is supposed to be Obama’s last one in office, was also attended by other high profile celebrities such as Kerry Washington, Emma Watson, Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett, Michelle Dockery and Kendall Jenner. The event was hosted by comedian Larry Wilmore.
During the event, Barack Obama also roasted US Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
Adnan Siddiqui, Sajal Aly to debut in Bollywood with Sridevi-starrer ‘Mom’
Pakistani drama actors Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Aly are going to debut in Bollywood alongside veteran Indian actress Sridevi in movie ‘Mom’.
Adnan Siddiqui will play the role of Sridevi’s husband and Sajal’s father. Producer of the film, Sridevi, will play lead role in the ‘women-centric’ show.
News of Sajal’s debuting in ‘Mom’ had broken few weeks before, however a source close to the production has confirmed Adnan Siddiqui as the second Pakistani actor in the upcoming flick. This will be Adnan’s second overseas film, after ‘A Mighty Heart’.

Jon Snow continued to trend in Pakistan after the latest Game of Thrones’ episode saw him return back to life.
We all knew Jon Snow was well past dead after he had been stabbed numerous times at the end of season five last year. However, this is Game of Thrones we’re talking about and in a show where you have White Walker, dragons, dwarves and giants, bringing someone back from the dead was never a long shot. The handsome Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch was brought back to life via Lady Melisandre’s magic, as fans across the world (and across Pakistan as well) heaved a sigh of relief.
