KARACHI: Former federal minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Dr. Asim Hussain on Friday bemoaned his ‘media trial’ and said that neither he held a meeting with Faryal Talpur, nor a telephonic contact with Asif Ali Zardari, ARY News reported.
He was talking to journalists on the occasion of his appearance before an accountability court pertaining to the corruption reference against him. Dr. Hussain maintained that the cases against him are fabricated and denied all allegations.
Earlier, his lawyers strongly objected to the non-provision of complete documents of the case. When inquired, the National accountability Bureau’s (NAB) counsel informed the court that the investigating officer of the case was in Dubai and all available documents have been provided.
He argued that the case should be run based on available documents.
After hearing arguments by both sides, the court adjourned the proceedings till May 07.
Dr. Asim Hussain has been in the custody of law enforcement agencies since his arrest in August 2015 on charges of corruption and providing treatment to terrorists at his privately-run hospital.
Of late, he was allowed to visit the embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he signed a Power of Attorney transferring all his assets to his son.
