 Remembering the legend that was Moin Akhtar
KARACHI: Today is the fifth death anniversary of legend comedian, actor and host Moin Akhtar.
Pakistanis will never grow fond of Moin Akhtar, owing to the man’s God given talent. The comedian, who always induced hysterical laughter from his stand-up comedy shows or on-screen caricatures, Moin Akhtar was a man who knew his craft.

Moin Akhtar began his journey to stardom by starting his career in the 60s. Bollywood superstars Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan were also avid fans of Moin Akhtar. Moin worked in a couple of films but his association with TV continued till his death.

Among his famous shows are Family 93, Half-plate, Rozey, Eid Train, Buddha Ghar Pae Hae, Baqra Qiston Pe as well as others. Apart from being a successful actor, Moin Akhtar was also a brilliant host.

Born in Karachi, Moin Akhtar’s mother tongue was Urdu however he had command over several languages which included Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashto, Bengali and Gujrati. Owing to his brilliance, Pakistan government awarded Moin Akhtar with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
Moin was also an author, film producer and director as well as a singer. Moin Akhtar died on April 22, 2011 but his memory continues to live on through his memorable works.
